Look beyond the first leak
An isolated open joint, loose attachment or disconnected outlet may support a focused repair when the surrounding system remains serviceable. Repeated leaks, widespread deterioration, poor layout or ineffective pitch can point toward a broader replacement discussion.
Compare the complete system
Review straight runs, corners, fascia attachment, outlets, downspouts and discharge locations. Replacement should solve a useful drainage problem, not simply exchange old material for new material in the same ineffective layout.
